Harmonising waste management compliance data through a Pan-European Open Data Framework
Project Overview
The Open Waste Compliance Project aims to create a Pan-European Waste Licences Framework to ensure a quick due diligence assessment of registered waste carriers and authorised sites.
It is essential to aggregate and consolidate these public registers, in order to make them easily accessible with a user-friendly interface that allows to check the legitimacy of waste management companies.
This will help companies generating waste to ensure that they are dealing with the appropriate waste contractor. As a matter of fact this will reduce waste crime, where less scrupulous waste operators (without valid licences) could fly tip waste collected from clients.
